Uli Rois is a musician and scholar living in Vienna, Austria. He plays a variety of instruments but is nowadays mostly focused on banjo, fiddle and esraj.
Rois founded the DIY tape label Feathered Coyote Records in 2011 and the free acoustic drone collective Bird People in 2010.
With his solo project Rois explores sustained tone music, modal improvisation and different forms of folk music, trying to find a common ground through accentuating the ecstatic or trance-inducing qualities of these musics.
